Every detail is meticulously planned out, so all you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy.

One of VACAYA’s main missions is to give back to the communities we visit. We view travel as a truly transformative experience. Gay travel specifically has changed the way people all over the world view our community. They have given us so much by welcoming LGBT travelers with open arms. Now, it’s our chance to give back to them through our ReachOUT program. AQSC takes great pride in supporting local businesses along the river and VACAYA is honored to continue the tradition, especially in these times of great need.

American Duchess began cruising the Mississippi River in June 2017. Riverships on the Mississippi typically follow the same design: wood, brass, traditional American accents, and decor that harkens back to the bygone Mark Twain era. American Duchess, the third vessel from American Queen Steamboat Company, breaks that mold. This 166-passenger ship’s interior is delightfully modern and contemporary.

American Duchess is wider than other ships in the AQSC fleet at 100 feet, and has 18.5-foot high ceilings on each floor. When you walk onto Duchess, the spaciousness is immediately apparent, highlighted by the beautiful atrium staircases. Large Austrian chandeliers provide a touch of formality, while Murano glassworks add colorful contemporary touches.

Spacious luxury awaits aboard the floating masterpiece that is American Duchess. This boutique-style rivership offers exquisite dining, beautiful decks, and exceptional amenities. Her suites range from 180 to 550 square feet, providing you with the largest accommodations on the rivers. Unique to American Duchess are her Loft Suites, which feature two stories enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows, two full bathrooms, a comfortable dining area, a beautiful lounge with a queen sofa bed, a private balcony, and an upstairs bedroom.

Combining the best of the old and the new, this beautiful lady epitomizes the grace and grandeur that have made cruising on the Mississippi River a cherished American tradition for more than three centuries. And now she’s all ours!

Please note that mask and social distancing mandates are subject to change or be eliminated altogether as conditions warrants. You’ll find AQSC’s safety protocols HERE.

PRIDE IN SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES ALONG THE RIVER

American Duchess has been welcomed and praised by many river towns in the United States for her and her sister vessels’ contributions to local economies. The rising popularity of U.S. river cruising has brought tourist dollars into smaller, lesser known U.S. towns from travelers worldwide. AQSC takes great pride in supporting local businesses along the river and VACAYA is honored to continue the tradition, especially in these times of great need.

When this settlement was destroyed by flooding and fires, many of the structures and artifacts were hauled up the bluff into St. Francisville where they still stand. With over 140 buildings on the National Register, beautiful homes nestled in the rolling countryside, and bustling Main Street shops, this quaint town situated on the bluffs of the Mississippi River has a style all its own.

His 3-story brick home was built in 1840 and showcases many original furnishings.

Tour the house and then stop in the gift shop for souvenirs.

Stanton Hall
Irish Immigrant and cotton merchant Frederick Stanton built this Palatial Greek Revival mansion in 1857. 5-STAR LUXURY CLOSE TO HOME

American Duchess’ staterooms are some of the most spacious available on the rivers of America (or any river in the world, for that matter), with well-appointed staterooms and suites up to 550 square feet. While the rhythm of the river is typically as slow as a southern drawl, Concierge Travel & VACAYA will certainly turn up the connections and fun throughout the voyage. Your stateroom or suite provides the perfect retreat after each fun-filled day, inviting you to take a deep breath and enjoy life’s simple moments.

Enhance the Experience We have been booking with Concierge Travel for many years. They provide access to all of the Gay Travel products available and are able to provide advice on which type of travel or specific trips will meet our needs. Concierge team members often join us on the trip and provide a few little extras to enhance the experience. We would never consider using anyone else.
