LIFELONG CONNECTIONS
One of the advantages of a small ship is that our guests get to experience these life-changing, bucket-list destinations with like-minded adults, including our V Team and cruise line crew. While our returning guests see familiar faces and continue to strengthen existing bonds, new guests report that our community is the most welcoming at sea (or on land). At the end of each trip in our guest satisfaction survey, we ask guests to report whether they made a new friend on their vacation. So, we actually have the data to back this up!
PHILANTHROPIC OPPORTUNITIES
One of VACAYA’s main missions is to leave the communities we visit better than we found them through our ReachOUT initiatives. While on vacation, we’ll give guests the opportunity to give back through sweat equity (volunteering) or through financial donation. We’re working on several meaningful options for our 2024 ReachOUT initiatives. So stay tuned for more details, which will be outlined on our GET READY page and in our social media.

Rivaling the very best European capitals for sophistication and culture, the tree-lined streets of chic Buenos Aires host stellar restaurants, world-class art galleries and museums, the gorgeous Teatro de Colon, and the primary-colored houses of La Boca. As the sun sets, Recoleta comes to life and the feverish melodies of the tango rise along San Telmo’s cobbled streets.
We’re once again partnering with LGBT-owned and operated Lunfarda Travel for pre-cruise adventures in and around BA. So be sure to schedule at least 3 or 4 extra days in the city before our cruise begins.
Oh, Uruguay. How we loooooove you! Spend the day here in Punta del Este enjoying this beautiful, chic beach resort, its marinas, museums, and endless shopping. While warm sands remain a major attraction, the many small fishing villages along the coast are also havens for artists and getaways for celebrities. On the streets and beaches, you’ll find a glamorous mix of bronzed hedonists and wealthy holidaymakers. Together, they help create a cozy, relaxed city full of high-end restaurants and world-class galleries and museums.
It’s Sunday, and with everything closed ashore, there’s no better day of the week for a sea day than today. Sleep in. Relax onboard. Take a long, leisurely lunch. And then join us on the upper decks for our first V-Dance of the week under the warm South American sun. As a reminder… on our smaller Luxe trips, our parties are more of the cocktail variety, but if you want to dance, DANCE!
Known for its perfect beaches, excellent surfing, amazing seafood, and beautiful architecture, Itajaí is a thriving destination. We’ll arrive late afternoon/early evening and you’ll have the chance to explore this city by the golden light of sunset. Despite its impressive skyline and nearly 120 square miles of land, the population is a modest 200,000 people, and they’re all incredibly welcoming. Tonight, we recommend checking out one of the city’s delicious restaurants along the main promenade and waterfront. Our favorites casual joints include Botequim Selrón, El Capitán Parrilla y Bar, and Zephyr Seafood & Nikkei.
Today is all about fabulous shopping, hitting one of the cities renowned beaches like Brava, Cabecudas, and Morcego, or exploring the region’s fascinating sights, including Paroquia Santíssimo Sacramento, the City Center’s Public Market, or Parrot’s Beak. Enjoy the sunshine and good times!
With its beautiful beaches, waterfalls, and unspoiled Atlantic rainforest, Ilhabela is one of the most sought-after getaway destinations for Brazilians from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Situated on the western side of the gorgeous Litoral Norte coastline, this archipelago is beautiful even in name (ilha bela is Portuguese for “beautiful island”). Prepare to have an unforgettable visit!
Paraty is a gem of an historic town, with its beautifully preserved Portuguese colonial architecture, charming narrow streets, imposing fort, and exquisite churches. One of our favorite things about Paraty is that the town floods nearly every day. You read that correctly… it FLOODS at high tide. The sidewalks are elevated a foot above the cobblestone streets, and during high tides, ocean water pours into the streets. It stirs an unforgettable, surreal scene of colonial buildings reflecting in the flooded streets – a photographer’s dream.
It may be hard to believe this, but this tiny fishing village is often ranked as one of the ten most beautiful spots in the world. The village first became known when actress Brigitte Bardot visited during the prime of her international stardom (there’s a statue paying tribute to her on the Orla Bardot). Today, Búzios is more St. Tropez than a sleepy fishing village. Here, you’ll find some of Brazil’s most beautiful beaches. We encourage you to hit the sand and spend the afternoon sipping delicious caipirinhas as you soak in the sunshine and radiant beauty of all that surrounds you.
The fabulous thing about Rio is that there’s a little bit of Carnival celebrated here every day. From its famous beaches to its iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio radiates an air of exuberance that’s hard to find anywhere else. Make the scene on trendy Ipanema or take a cable car to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain and enjoy the amazing views. We hope you’ll spend at least 3 or 4 days here in Rio before heading onward or home. It’s DEFINITELY worth it. And don’t forget… it’s Saturday night! The city will be bustling with options to enjoy your first night in town.
