Trip Operator:

ALL WE WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS… YOU!

Some Christmases happen around a tree.

This one happens under palm trees!

From December 16-27, 2028, VACAYA is taking over the beautiful m/s Paul Gauguin for an 11-night journey through the Cook Islands and Society Islands, sailing roundtrip from Papeete, Tahiti. Along the way, we’ll discover Huahine, Aitutaki, Rarotonga, Bora Bora, Taha’a, and Moorea, with two blissful days at sea and leisurely overnights in both Bora Bora and Moorea.

But the real magic of this adventure isn’t simply where we’re going. It’s who we’re sharing it with.

For so many in our community, family is something we build with intention. It’s the people who see us clearly, love us completely, show up consistently, and somehow know exactly when we need another cocktail. They’re our partners, best friends, exes who became family, neighbors who became siblings, and wonderful new people we haven’t even met yet.

This Christmas, we’re bringing that entire idea of family together in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Come with your partner. Bring your besties. Rally the whole chosen-family group chat. Make it a true family affair and bring Mom, Pop, your brothers, sisters, or the relatives who’ve always shown up for you. Or arrive completely solo and let the VACAYA family welcome you in. Because once every restaurant, lounge, pool deck, and dance floor belongs to us, no one has to shrink themselves to fit the room. Whether it’s the family you were born into, the family you’ve chosen, or the family you’re about to find onboard, every version of family belongs here.

And just look at where we’ll be celebrating…

On Christmas Eve, we’ll spend the day on Motu Mahana, Paul Gauguin’s private islet off Taha’a, where warm lagoons, a beach barbecue, watersports, Polynesian music, and cocktails from a floating bar replace the usual holiday hustle. Then, on Christmas Day, Moorea welcomes us with its soaring green peaks, brilliant blue lagoons, palm-fringed beaches, and an overnight stay that gives us all the time we need to soak it all in.

No cooking. No cleaning. No winter coat. No schedule you didn’t choose.

Just sunshine, saltwater, laughter, music, beautiful meals, festive surprises, and eleven unforgettable nights with the people who make life brighter.

Santa can keep the sleigh. We’ve got The Gauguin!

We’re releasing this extraordinary holiday adventure more than two years in advance for one very important reason – to make paradise easier to reach. With extra time to spread the cost across VACAYA’s interest-free monthly payment plan, your payments can be smaller and more manageable, giving more Vacayans the opportunity to experience a truly luxurious Christmas in French Polynesia. It’s more time to plan, more time to save, and more time to get excited about celebrating the holidays with your chosen family.

THE BEST GIFT? HAVING ALMOST EVERYTHING TAKEN CARE OF.

A holiday this extraordinary should feel wonderfully easy. The m/s Paul Gauguin offers an unusually inclusive luxury experience, so once you step aboard, you can spend far less time thinking about what everything costs and far more time deciding which lagoon, restaurant, cocktail, or cute new friend deserves your attention next.

With only 330 Vacayans aboard, m/s Paul Gauguin offers the warm, attentive service that’s harder to find on larger ships. With just 165 staterooms and suites and a substantial crew, faces quickly become familiar and personal preferences remembered. By Day 3, don’t be surprised when someone knows your favorite cocktail. By Day 5, half the ship might.

WHY THIS CHRISTMAS HITS DIFFERENT

THE FAMILY YOU CHOOSE
The holidays remind us that family can be the one we’re born into, the one we find, or a beautiful combination of both. This cruise celebrates the people who help make us who we are through long dinners with old friends, adventures with new ones, quiet mornings beside someone you love, and shared laughter that transforms a ship into a genuine community.
A HOLIDAY WITH ZERO HOSTING STRESS
The chefs handle dinner. The crew keeps the glasses full. The ocean takes care of the decorating. All you need to do is wake up, look outside, and decide whether today calls for snorkeling, exploring, lounging, dancing, napping, or some highly strategic combination of all five.
BORA BORA AFTER DARK

Bora Bora is spectacular at any hour, but an overnight lets us experience something most visitors never do: watch the day-trippers leave, see Mount Otemanu change color in the evening light, and enjoy the island and lagoon without watching the clock. We arrive at 8am on December 22 and don’t sail until 11pm the following night. That’s nearly two full days to swim, snorkel, explore, unwind, and discover whether Bora Bora somehow looks even better at sunset. Spoiler alert: it does. Pro Tip: This is a great chance to stay overnight off the ship in an over-the-water bungalow!

A VERY MERRY MOTU
Christmas Eve on a private island sounds like something an overachieving holiday movie writer invented. But this one is real. Motu Mahana is Paul Gauguin Cruises’ private South Seas islet off Taha’a. Swim in warm water, snorkel among tropical fish, paddle across the lagoon, relax beneath the palms, enjoy a barbecue feast, and order a cocktail from the floating bar. It may be the first Christmas Eve when remembering the sunscreen is more important than remembering the wrapping paper.
CHRISTMAS DAY IN MOOREA
On Christmas morning, Moorea’s dramatic green mountains and luminous lagoons come into view. There’s no rushing through this gift. We’ll remain overnight, giving you the freedom to explore the island, head out on the water, find a beautiful beach, or simply stay aboard and celebrate the day surrounded by your VACAYA family. Merry and bright has never looked this blue.
PARADISE, BUT MAKE IT VACAYA
The Paul Gauguin experience already includes remarkable dining, warm Polynesian hospitality, gorgeous accommodations, and intimate access to the islands. Then VACAYA makes the entire ship ours. That means your V Team, signature entertainment, welcoming activities, festive celebrations, social events, and countless opportunities to connect with fellow Vacayans. This isn’t merely Christmas somewhere warm. This is Christmas with VACAYA.

Welcome to paradise! Papeete is the lively capital of French Polynesia and the gateway to our holiday adventure. Arrive early and explore the colorful Le Marché, browse Tahitian pearl jewelry and local crafts, stroll the waterfront, or sample dinner from the city’s popular roulottes before boarding. Then step aboard m/s Paul Gauguin, meet the people who’ll become your holiday family, raise the first of many glasses, and sail into the warm South Pacific. Christmas officially begins now!

Our first island is lush, laid-back, deeply historic Huahine. Often described as one of French Polynesia’s more secluded treasures, Huahine combines rainforest-covered terrain, clear lagoons, quiet villages, and some of the region’s best-preserved archaeological sites. Explore the ancient marae around Maeva, visit the easygoing waterfront town of Fare, encounter the island’s famous blue-eyed eels, or head straight for the lagoon with your snorkel. Huahine doesn’t need to shout for attention. It simply gets under your skin.

No port. No pressure. Sleep late. Order breakfast to your room. Claim a pool lounger. Join a VACAYA activity. Visit the spa. Make lunch last two hours. Meet someone new. Take an extremely serious afternoon nap. Today is your chance to settle into the ship, the community, and the wonderfully uncomplicated rhythm of life in the South Pacific. Your only real responsibility is remembering where you left your sunglasses.

Aitutaki’s lagoon is the sort of place that makes even heavily edited travel photography look strangely inadequate. Its luminous turquoise water is surrounded by palm-shaded beaches and dotted with postcard-perfect motus. Spend the day swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, or cruising across the lagoon toward One Foot Island. On land, explore quiet Arutanga, discover the island’s Polynesian traditions, or climb Maunga Pu for sweeping views across the reef and lagoon. You may run out of adjectives, but your camera won’t run out of work.

Rarotonga may be the hub of the Cook Islands, but it remains refreshingly unspoiled. In fact, local tradition keeps every building lower than the tallest coconut tree. Browse the market and shops of Avarua, circle the island by scooter or vehicle, relax along the crystalline waters of Muri Beach, snorkel in the Aroa Marine Reserve, or head into the lush interior, where steep volcanic peaks rise above largely untouched jungle. Rarotonga is equal parts beach day, cultural discovery, and tropical adventure. Choose wisely. Or don’t choose at all and sample everything.

Consider today the calm before our spectacular Christmas stretch. Recharge beside the pool. Book a treatment. Settle in for a beautiful lunch. Join the fun with your fellow Vacayans. Or disappear onto your balcony and watch the South Pacific roll past with absolutely nowhere else you need to be. Tomorrow, Bora Bora begins. You’ll want to be rested.

There are famous islands. And then there’s Bora Bora. Mount Otemanu rises dramatically above one of the world’s most celebrated lagoons, surrounded by white-sand beaches, coral gardens, and water in shades of blue that don’t seem entirely legal. Spend the day snorkeling, diving, cruising the lagoon, meeting rays and tropical fish, relaxing at Paul Gauguin’s private beach when conditions allow, or simply finding the perfect view and refusing to leave it. Tonight, the ship remains in Bora Bora. No hurried farewell. No last tender panic. Just sunset, stars, and nowhere else to be.

BB round two. Head back onto the lagoon, discover a different corner of the island, spend another afternoon at the beach, or stay aboard and admire Mount Otemanu from the pool deck. Because we don’t sail until 11pm, there’s time for one more swim, one more sunset, one more cocktail, and one unforgettable evening beneath the Bora Bora sky. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. And somehow, this journey’s still getting better.

Okay, this is almost absurdly good. We’re spending Christmas Eve on Motu Mahana, Paul Gauguin’s own private islet in the lagoon of Taha’a. Swim in warm, clear water. Snorkel among tropical fish. Paddle across the lagoon. Relax on the beach. Watch demonstrations of Polynesian crafts. Enjoy music beneath the palms. Feast on a barbecue lunch. Then swim over to the floating bar and order something suitably festive. By late afternoon, we’ll return to the ship and settle in for a magical Christmas Eve night surrounded by our chosen family. No chimney. No snow. No problem. Have yourself a very merry motu!

Christmas morning brings us Moorea. The island welcomes Vacayans with soaring emerald mountains, bright lagoons, fragrant tropical fruit, palm-fringed beaches, and scenery that seems designed to stop conversations mid-sentence. Head out on the water. Look for dolphins with a marine expert. Visit Belvedere Lookout for views across Cook’s Bay and Opunohu Bay. Explore tropical gardens and fruit farms. Find a beach. Or remain onboard and enjoy a slow, beautiful Christmas Day with the people you love. Because we’re staying overnight, there’s nothing to rush. The greatest gift today is time. Time together. Time in paradise. Time to celebrate exactly as we choose. Merry Christmas, Vacayans!

Consider this Moorea’s bonus present. Use our second day to explore whatever you missed on Christmas. Hike toward the panoramic views of Magic Mountain, visit a local distillery or agricultural school, head back onto the lagoon, or find one final beach and let the afternoon drift away. At 5pm, we’ll sail toward Tahiti as Moorea’s mountains fade into the distance. It’s our final night together, so make the dinner long, the hugs tight, and the dance floor count.

We return to Papeete early this morning, bringing eleven extraordinary nights to a close.

You may be leaving the ship with a tan, several thousand photos, a phone full of new contacts, and at least one story that should probably remain within the VACAYA family. But the real souvenir is the family itself. The friends you brought. The friends you found. And the Christmas you’ll be talking about for years. PARADISE WAS THE DESTINATION. TOGETHER WAS THE GIFT.

First Class Service From the moment we choose a trip to the time we return home, the experience and service far exceeds our expectations.  One trip specifically that was hands down over the top, was our trip, organized and run by Concierge Travel; the Galápagos Islands.  It was almost 2 years in the planning and the experience ended up being 3 weeks from take-off to landing.
